Everything is close in Westfield

This is a short note on what it feels like to live in a town where everything is close. Westfield sits about twenty miles north of downtown Indianapolis, close enough to the city for a night out and far enough to feel like your own place, and almost everything you need on a normal day is a few minutes down the road.

The errands that turn into the easy part

The Monon Trail threads through town for the walkers and cyclists, and Grand Park is up the road for practices and tournaments, so the busy days never start with a long haul.

The drive that behaves itself

For the days when the city calls, US 31 heads south and turns into an easy run to the interstate. When traffic is light the drive to downtown Indianapolis is roughly half an hour, which is a pleasant surprise for a town that feels as settled and green as this one. You get the calm of a small community and the reach of a metro area without choosing between them.

The home on Larchwood sits right in the middle of all of it, close to the everyday and still tucked into a quiet, pond-side setting. That combination is rarer than it sounds.
